Hello.
I’m James Chiam, a UX leader in Singapore. I align teams, cut scope without cutting value, and ship outcomes you can measure.
Non-Negotiables: Principles I keep, sprint after sprint.
People
People ship products, not tools. I create calm teams with clear ownership, psychological safety, and the freedom to do their best work.
No heroics, no politics. Mentorship over micromanagement, trust over noise — because dignity and clarity beat burnout every time.
Work
Outcome over output. I believe simple, well-framed problems ship faster and age better than clever features.
Make trade-offs explicit, test assumptions, and keep the copy human. Evidence leads; ego follows.
Ethics
Respect the user and tell the truth. No dark patterns, ever. Privacy and accessibility aren’t extras — they’re table stakes.
Short-term wins don’t justify long-term damage. I’d rather be proud of the release notes than apologetic in the post-mortem.

The Team

The Explorer
On Monday morning, the brief is fog. By lunch, I’m in orbit with a map: who the user is, what hurts, what’s worth testing. I plant flags only where evidence says “go.”

The Tactician
I’ll clear the path, mark safe routes, and set rules of engagement so the team moves as one. Flows get tighter, copy gets clearer, and the objective gets taken clean.

The Warlord
Two stakeholders, three priorities, zero progress. I get everyone in a room, put the trade-offs on the table, and land the decision we can live with and ship.

The Firefighter
Something’s on fire. I don’t bring drama; I bring a checklist. Triage, fix, learn, install guardrails so we don’t meet again for the same reason. Calm beats chaos, every time.
